first_imgTrailfinders are set to pull out of business in Australia next month, after operating in the country for the past 17 years since opening its first Travel Centre in Cairns in May 1994.In what appears to be a sudden move, the Group said in an online statement that the consolidation of the retail industry in Australia has forced the company to close on October 28 and concentrate solely on its UK operations.Trailfinders spokesperson told e-Travel Blackboard phone lines continue to work, and will do so until early next year for customer ease, the Sydney shop remains open currently with some 30 staff however, some are looking for new employment as the team will be reduced in coming weeks. However, it is understood that key partners had been advised of the closure prior to the online announcement.The company stressed in the online statement that although it is closing down, Viewtrail will continue to be supported until their last client returns safely.“All current travel arrangements will of course be honoured and processed with the care and diligence expected of Trailfinders including any arrangements which continue after 28 October,” the online statement read.“The Directors have been reluctant to withdraw the special brand of TF Service from Australia but the dramatic consolidation of the retail travel industry across Australia no longer makes it viable to continue.”e-Travel Blackboard will update this article as more news comes to hand.
