Gingerbread confirmed as Android 23 Nexus S specs revealed

first_imgWhilst it’s no secret that Samsung’s latest Android handset – codenamed the Nexus S – was rumored to have the latest Android OS (2.3) installed, it’s only now that we can confirm its existence. It seems that XDA developers managed to get hold of a handset from an unnamed source and took some snapshots of the screen in the process (whilst they got the chance). This could explain why the photos were blurry, but they do show Android 2.3 running on the phone. It also proves that Gingerbread is Android 2.3 and not 3.0.As we reported earlier in the month the Samsung Nexus S is a thin and curved device, featuring a convex display. The curved display is something Samsung has been shopping around for awhile, claiming it offers improved perceived usability over a flat display. Apparently, Sprint was impressed and wanted to bring the curved display to their networks in time for the holidays, but Samsung was unable to deliver the sort of volume they were looking for, making the curved display’s first appearance in the Nexus S.We also have more of an idea over the phones official specs. The processor for one is a meaty Arm7 CPU (no speed reported as of yet) and it should have enough ram to handle most Apps, though the internal storage seems a little stingy but this should be supported with microSD expansion. It’s also got 720P HD video recording capabilities which will coexist with its 5MP camera if our previous report was accurate.Specs:ArmV7 CPU – Could be Dual Core Open GL ES Supported 512 or 328MB Ram (Not 100% known) 1GB or 2GB Internal Memory (Not 100% known) 800×480 Screen Resolution 4″ Screen Size SuperAmoled2 – Possibly 720P HD Videos being released on the NexusRead more at XDA DevelopersnexusSnexusSnexusSnexusS_2nexusS_3last_img
