first_imgJohns Hopkins University Research Animal Resources has a positionavailable for a laboratory animal veterinarian with a facultyappointment in the Department of Molecular and ComparativePathobiology. The successful applicant will primarily providemedical and surgical support for large animal and nonhuman primateresearch. She or he will also take an active role in theACLAM-recognized laboratory animal medicine training program,participate in regulatory activities and conduct clinical orcollaborative research. He or she will join 5 laboratory animalmedicine faculty and 4 post-doctoral clinical trainees in providingclinical and research support for multiple species, includingbreeding colonies of marmosets and pigtail and rhesusmacaques.Requirements include a license to practice veterinary medicine inthe US and a current driver’s license. Candidates must haveexcellent oral and written English capabilities, a thoroughknowledge of current US regulatory standards, strong teachingskills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of individualswith minimal supervision. Applicants should also have ademonstrated ability to conduct clinical or collaborative research,a record of customer service, and the ability to seek out, build,and maintain positive collaborative relationships withinvestigators. Experience and proficiency with diagnostics,advanced emergency and/or clinical care, anesthesia, routinesurgical procedures, and research support procedures in multiplespecies is expected.
