If you’re part of the lucky few living in cities selected to get the films in local theaters, you’ll be able to see the movies beginning February 23, with parts 1 and 2 airing as a double feature, and the third part running March 9, 2018 as a separate event.Parts 1 and 2, Legend 1: Awakening and Legend 2: Racer will comprise the double feature, and you can find your theater on Azoland Pictures’ official site to see if you’ll have to travel hundreds of miles or a couple hours (or right by your neighborhood if you’re in California or New York) or if you get the movies at all. If you do, you won’t want to miss them, because these are some very cool retellings of the Initial D series split into three different movies. If you haven’t ever watched Initial D, then you won’t want to reach the story explanations at the Azoland Pictures website, but to nutshell it, Initial D is an anime all about speed racing, and the first and second movie which are airing as a double feature follow Takumi Fujiwara and Koichiro Iketani of the Akina Speedstars as they work to take down the rival street racing team, the Akagi Red Suns. Takumi doesn’t seem like he’s super into street racing initially, but the fun part of Initial D is watching his unique racing style and his evolution into a street star himself. The following two movies further flesh out the show, and you’re in for a treat, especially if you like classic anime sensibilities and street racing.Check out the theater list here and get ready for a NIGHT OF FIRE.
